Dairy and Egg

Dairy and Egg

What is dairy?

Dairy products, milk products or lacticinia are a type of food produced from or containing the milk of mammals, primarily cattle, water buffaloes, goats, sheep, camels, and humans. Eggs, however, are not dairy. Dairy products include food items such as:

  • yogurt
  • cheese
  • butter
  • sour cream
  • ice cream
  • milk
  • and more.

Is egg a dairy product?

Egg is not a dairy product. Why people think it is? Maybe it's because of the rich protein nutrition in eggs. In fact eggs are produced from chickens, definitely an animal product, but not from cows, goats, and sheep like dairy products.

Cheese, gjetost

Gjetost cheese, which is also known as Brunost cheese, is a brown cheese originated in Norway. It is made with whey, mix of cow and goat's milk and/or cream. Brunost is primarily produced and consumed in Norway, and is regarded as one of the country's most iconic food.
